Somatics Classes at McTavish Academy of Art

Move with Ease

Somatic movement classes guide you to reconnect with your body through gentle, mindful movement and heightened awareness. Rather than focusing on performance, these classes emphasize sensing and releasing habitual tension, improving posture, and restoring natural movement patterns. Through slow, intentional exercises and integrated breathwork, participants learn to calm the nervous system, increase flexibility, and move with greater ease and confidence. Each session encourages self-exploration, helping you discover how your body naturally wants to move while supporting long-term comfort, balance, and overall well-being.

A few energy techniques will be incorporated each class to support relief from pain, tension, and stress, leaving you feeling more energized, grounded, and focused. Combining energy work with somatic movement creates a synergistic effect—relieving stress and opening energy pathways provides additional support to the muscles, allowing them to ease tension so that chronic patterns that may have been holding for years can gently and softly fall away.

What Participants Are Saying

I have been so delighted with the exceptional classes of Somatics with Lisa Wieben.
She is a delightful instructor providing a welcoming energy while teaching easy to follow movements.
These are helping to release the chronic pain holding patterns I have carried for years in my body.
No words could fully express my gratitude for feeling like I can actually move more freely, have more energy throughout the day and sleep with greater ease each night.
Thank you Lisa for creating this opportunity to come back home to myself.
Dr. Madelaine Tiller, L. Psychologist
